Hi, so I flashed the firmware on my MB bios. The desktop would go on infinite loop rebooting (i.e.
Won't fully reboot), so I had to reseat the battery and clear the CMOS. After the reset.
The computer booted but halted. I had to press delete and enter BIOS. I don't know much about setting up BIOS, since someone else had set it up for me.
So I did a little research, and learned that I could fix my boot problem by changing from IDE to AHCI mode. I went into integrated peripherals to change from IDE to AHCI mode.
Thanks to that, the computer booted up. Infinite reboot issue fixed.

Computer won't boot issue fixed. But now I have another problem. This time it is also a boot problem. Only 1 out of 10 times my computer would halt during boot up. I would see a black screen that lists my SATA devices.
And if this black screen appears, the computer will not reboot until I press CTRL+ALT+DEL. I not sure if it because of 1) hardware failure or 2) bad BIOS settings or 3) something else. About my PC:. I have three storage devices connected via a single SATA capable with a 1st connector, a 2nd connector, and a 3rd.
I noticed that my computer won't boot unless I connect my system hard drive to the 1st connector. The system hard drive is a 256GB SSD, the secondary drive is a 1TB HDD for media files, the tertiary drive is also a 1TB HDD for creativity and learning. My motherboard is the EVGA X58 SLI3 and I running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. About my BIOS settings:. My computer has the HALT on settings for all errors, but I recently switched it to 'HALT on except for keyboard errors'. Before clearingthe CMOS, it was HALT 'no errors' in other words disabled. Under integrated peripherals, I see my SSD, and my 1TB HDD, but the other 1TB HDD is missing.
It also shows my DVD writer and Sony BluRay device. I know that it lists only AHCI devices. But why is my other 1TB HDD not an AHCI device? I am using two of the same 1TB hard drive. However under the hard disk boot priority, all three drives are visible. My SSD is listed as AHCI-HDD2, my 1TB HDD is listed as AHCI-HDD1, and my other 1TB HDD is listed as SCSI-0.
What does that mean? Is this the cause of my problem?/LIST Screen shots of BIOS settings here, for clarity: Someone over at the overclock forums believe it could be a bad BIOS.
He/she recommended that I flash to an older BIOS. I don't know what to do, but I am thinking about reverting back to my original BIOS. Flashed to BIOS 82. That is the only other BIOS available for model 131-GT-E767. I am having random, but temporary freezes. Computer will sometimes shutdown but not powerdown, causing the fans to run until I hold the power button for 3 seconds. I am not sure about the boot-up problem.
Hasn't occurred but it's rare and I've only booted 5 times. Where is the BIOS archive for the EVGA X58 SLI3?
I really, want to flash the old BIOS. People are telling me it's a bad BIOS but could it be bad BIOS settings? I don't really know how to configure all BIOS settings. Just to make sure though, does this work for my model? My model is 131-GT-E767.
It is called the EVGA X58 SLI3. I heard that the BIOS is designed for compatibility other X58 motherboards. Is that true? The only reason I didn't use that archive before was because they are the BIOS updates for the x58 SLI motherboard (132-BL-E758-A1 and 132-BL-E758-TR). On another note, my computer shows two DVD drives and 1 Blueray drive even though I only have 1 of each installed on my system.
These BIOS updates are making my system buggy.
